The framework method

A repeatable sequence we use on every KPI Framework Design engagement — grounded in application-team decisions rather than abstract measurement theory.

Why a method, not a template

Application estates differ: a booking platform and a warehouse control system do not share the same release risks. Our method keeps the sequence stable while the KPI set stays specific to your applications, owners, and constraints.

Four stages

Each stage produces an artefact the next stage depends on. We do not skip ahead to pretty charts.

Discover decisions

We catalogue the decisions application teams make weekly and quarterly — release readiness, capacity shifts, incident response, adoption bets — and list the evidence those decisions need.

Select measures

Candidate KPIs are scored for collectability, ownership, and decision usefulness. Vanity metrics and duplicates are retired with a written rationale so they do not quietly return.

Define and assign

Every surviving KPI receives a plain-language definition, a collection window, a source system, and a named owner. Ambiguous wording is treated as a defect.

Practise the cadence

We facilitate the first formal review using the new scorecard so the ritual is lived once before we leave. Optional quarterly facilitation keeps definitions honest thereafter.
